All Hail the Hemperor

Most of everyone enjoys a nice beer. Whether it be a Busch latte or a nice IPA. Beer is something that us as humans, and if you give it to your pet rat, use as a relaxation period. A time to sit back and unwind from the world that consumes us everyday, it’s hard to have a bad beer unless you have too many and then shit hits the fan and next thing you know you’re throwing up. Not fun.

Last week I came across a beer I have yet to try but have heard about. It is New Belgium’s Hemperor HPA. Here is the description on New Belgium’s website and the link: https://www.newbelgium.com/beer/the-hemperor-hpa/

“The Hemperor HPA – The World’s Dankest Ale
Get ready: an exciting new offering that’ll change the way you think about hoppy beers is coming your way. The brewers at New Belgium have created a new style of IPA: The Hemperor HPA. With the popularity of hoppy beers, our brewers are always on the lookout for different hop varieties and the complexities and flavors new strains can bring. That’s where hemp comes into the picture. Without getting too nerdy, we found a unique way to recreate hemp terpene flavors in a beer, which complement the inclusion of hop flavors and hemp hearts (seeds) in a brand new, delicious way—not to mention this beer is extremely dank! The flavors and aromas are so unique that it’s a style unto itself, hence HPA®.”

Extremely dank! got to love that description for all those still living the high school days trying to act cool when you get some good mary. This beer is fantastic! This is one of the more unique beers I have ever tasted. When you crack the top, you get an immediate smell of hemp, not as strong as THC buds, but you can tell it was infused with hemp. It doesn’t look too dark and the visual of it is how it will taste. Not too hoppy, actually kind of sweet, with a really nice finish more on the dry side. Of course, since it is a version of an IPA, there is a bit of bitterness to it, but it is not overwhelming. For all you people out there that do not like the bitterness, this will not scare you off. For what the beer is infused with, this beer is one of my favorite beers that has touched my gracious, tender, sweet lips.

On New Belgium’s website, the link is above, they have the ABV (alcohol content) as a 7.0. Meaning it is on the stronger side, but like I was saying, it is NOT too storng for all you people with a pallet on the weaker side. The IBU, (internal bitterness unit) meaning if it is bitter or not, as in will taste like shit, Is set at 55. Which is right where this beer belongs. Not too strong and not too soft. Perfect in my opinion. Since you asked for it. For all you health freaks out there it is 200 calories so it is a bit much but that’s the price you pay for great beer!

Make sure everyone goes to their local beer store, or grocery store, and check the aisles for this fantastically unique beer that has bestowed us with it’s presence! You will not regret it! I love beer, so when I stumble across a good one I will hundo P start writing more about them! Thank you and have a great Sunday!
