Well down goes Guice… A very unfortunate turn of events for the Washington Redskins as their star rookie and 2nd round pick, Derrius Guice, tears his ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Not only does this suck for the Skins fans, who were pumped to see their young workhorse running back lead them to a few more W’s and hopefully a playoff push; But this sucks for Fantasy owners who have recently began mock drafting and looking forward to stealing him at a fairly decent ADP in this years drafts.
As a commish of one league and a member of three other competitive fantasy leagues, I can tell you first hand how tragic this is due to the lack of consistent RB’s available this year. The young rookies were a bright spot late in the draft, and now perhaps the most promising one of all is out for the year.
If you don’t have a 1st round pick in the top 7 or 8, then you are out of the money for drafting one of those first top tier RB’s who will be sure to be the difference makers this season. There are most definitely still some solid options out there for the rest of you like Melvin Gordon, Leonard Fournette or Kareem Hunt; But the RB position is not nearly as deep as the WR slot this year. You can pull off finding a number one receiver in the 2nd or 3rd round of your draft almost guaranteed.
I’m sure I can speak for everybody when I say I can’t wait to see Guice back in full swing next year because he has a hell of a career ahead of him. Hopefully his rehab goes smooth and he can come back and kill it for Washington.
Happy mock drafting and may the Fantasy Gods bless you and your make believe teams this season.
Be nice to each other.
