Having a year without “Game of Thrones” is something I would not wish upon anyone. Luckily HBO is competent enough to deliver some shows that will hold us off in the meantime. “Barry” was a fresh and unique series that gave us something to look forward to every week but now they are offering us a new thriller that is based off the book written by Gillian Flynn, the same woman that created “Gone Girl”. “Sharp Objects” stars Amy Adams, who is incredibly talented and simply just one hell of an actress. She plays Camille Preaker, a journalist who is summoned to her small home town to report on the disappearance of two preteen girls.
If you are familiar with “Gone Girl”, then you are aware of the dark, stylistic story telling that Gillian Flynn offers. This is no different. Immediately, you are transported into this dark world of mystery and chaos and it pulls you in. I can tell this is going to be one of those series that has you questioning everyone and everything throughout. Amy Adams’ character seems to be very troubled with many demons in her past that will most definitely come back to haunt her and everyone around her. After premiering the first episode, it had me drawn in and wanting more. Though, it may not be “Game of Thrones”, HBO has done a great job of keeping their content fresh and entertaining. “Sharp Objects” looks promising and I encourage you all to check it out.
Be nice to each other.
