Classic. No doubt in my mind, Redemption will go down as not only Jay Rock’s most well rounded and best sounding album to date, it will go down as an instant classic. It is not often an album this fresh to my ears has this type of impact, but I can confidently say even if you are not the biggest rap enthusiast, this is a beautiful work of art that almost anyone can appreciate. His confidence, pain and anger come through so clear and vividly and it is not often you find that kind of emotion in todays rap culture.
Jay Rock has been a key figure in TDE since we were introduced to them years ago. Top Dawg Entertainment obviously consisting of Kendrick, Schoolboy, Ab, Isaiah Rashad, SZA and a few more up and comers to keep an eye on; But Jay has always stood alone, as they all do. Expect much more from them this year.
Here is a few standout tracks from the album Redemption, along with the video for OSOM with J. Cole, which is one of my personal favorites.
