Black Ops 4: Fortnite Killer?

Treyarch and Activision just recently held their big event and reveal for their upcoming game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.  And yes, they showcased a new game mode that will be replacing the campaign all together.  And yes, it is battle royale… Big fucking surprise.  A pleasant surprise though, because I can see this actually working.  Even though the developers over there tend to bite the swag of other games quite often, they know what they are doing and they are some of the best at creating exciting multiplayer experiences.

But will it be the Fortnite killer?  If you ask me?  No.  Battlefield will also be releasing a battle royale mode and if anything… that will be the killer.  But the reason Fortnite stands alone and will stand alone for a very long time is the building.  The building is something no other game can touch.  That will always be the outlier that will eventually have me coming back.

Black Ops 4 will be fun, and it will be very successful.  If they listen to their community and give it the love it needs, they can challenge some of the battle royale market.  Again though, for some reason it seems like Battlefield is just made for the battle royale mode.  It will be very interesting to see how that develops and what that will mean for games like Fortnite and PUBG.

Here are the most recent trailers for Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII.  Enjoy.

  1. I very much agree, it’ll be sick, they’ve always got their finger on the pulse with COD, but Battlefield has always one upped them with their map size and vehicle options, oh and the sniping, sniping in battlefield is unmatched.
I also agree that the building is an absolute game changer and will keep me coming back. However I think the biggest reason Fortnite will continue to reign king over both of those for many people, is that its freeeeeeeee. I don’t recall exactly what games sell for now but I’m pretty sure it’s at least $60 for the most basic without any DLC content which often pushes the cost above $100.
What Fortnite has going for it is they get you hooked on the freebie play and its still the full experience, but if you want to donate a little cash into it, that just adds to the fun with the bonus extra challenges and earn skins etc.
Whats the word on the cross-platform xbox-ps4? Tryin to squad up with ya sometime Nick!
