Seeing the poster at the theater makes me happy. It’s almost here. #the9thfilmfromquentintarantino

Just finished #gameofthrones, lying in bed, and thinking about how my favorite show of all time ended. (spoiler alert) I want to say this now, because I think I know how the fan base is going to react. I believe — or at least I hope — that one day people will look back on this last season and acknowledge what George RR Martin and the Double D’s Justin pulled off. They were able to start the entire story with Bran as the first character from the first chapter and make him king with out the majority of us expecting it would happen. They fooled us into watching and rooting for the ultimate villain develop right before our eyes with out us realizing it despite the fact that she raised fire breathing monsters, crucified people, hung NAZI-esque flags everywhere, and the title being “A Song of Ice and Fire.” Sansa became the ice queen, Arya assassinated the Night King, and John defeated the Mad Queen and saved the realm, a story book ending for our main characters, yet not a single article I read or person I talked to predicted it. This is an example of brilliant storytelling where the conclusions are obvious yet no one sees them coming. Expectations were so high, theories were so imaginative, and the time we had to wait was so long, that I don’t think people are able to appreciate it yet. I don’t blame them — but i just want it on record, amidst the fallout, that I thought this season was (and I know this is controversial) good. I think Arya killing the night king was satisfying and climactic, I think the burning of Kings Landing will go down as a legendary and dark episode in the tradition of Ned’s Execution and the Red Wedding, and I think Jon killing Dany was a poetically perfect ending to the greatest show of all time.
