LEVIATHAN IPA by HARPOON BREWERY

“Malty sweetness with a bitter finish that improved with every sip. Lots of flavor here, so give your palate time to adjust. It’s worth it…”

Leviathan IPA: 3.5 out of 5

I am squatted in front of the IPA section at Total Wine looking for an option when I over here a man talking to his wife. “I can’t believe there is no Celebration Ale here!” I inform him that I found a 6 pack of Sierra Nevada’s seasonal treat over at a nearby Seven Eleven. He asks me what I think. Conversation ensues and I find out that this man is a true craft beer fan. He had even tried Pliny the Elder!

Long story short, I asked him to recommend an IPA and he handed me this one. I cracked it open while rewatching The Force Awakens with Kate the night before we were to go see The Last Jedi. It hit the spot. It was challenging in a rewarding and flavorful way and improved with every sip. If you like hoppy, tasty beers I highly recommend it. If you want something a little smoother and easier to drink you may want to avoid it.

Harpoon was started in 1986 by Dan Kenary, Rich Doyle, and George Ligeti. Based in Boston, they are an employee owned company.
